About Us

The Beyond the Yellow Ribbon - Quad Communities network is a grassroots citizen group that engages its communities in support of military members, veterans and their families.
Its purpose is to ensure local military members and their families never have to face life's daily challenges without the support of their friends, family, neighbors and communities.

What it means to be a Yellow Ribbon Community

The Beyond the Yellow Ribbon initiative was launched by adjutant General Larry Shellito to ensure that military embers deployed after 9/11 would not return home and endure the treatment that Vietnam War veterans experienced. The initiative expanded to include stronger community-based support networks for families affected by the stress of long or frequent deployments.

Minnesota's Beyond the Yellow Ribbon program is a model for how communities can recognize the sacrifices that military families make for all of us. In June 2014, Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Quad Communities completed the process of partnering with civic leadership, public safety, faith organizations and schools and was certified as a Yellow Ribbon Community Group by Gov. Mark Dayton.
